Photograhy & video

You'll look better when captured right than any stock image through a proper lens

Most small businesses are better than their content suggests. Blurry phone photos, stock images, shaky video shot on a lunch break – it’s not that you don’t care, it’s that getting proper content made has never quite made it to the top of the list. I come to you, shoot it properly, and deliver content that actually does your work justice.

TWO WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER

Photography, video, or both - depending on what the job needs

Most clients book a combined photo and video day – but some shoots are photo-only or video-only. Either is fine.

Business Photography

Professional photos of your business, your people, your products, or your work in progress. Shot on location, edited properly, and delivered in a format that works across your website, social media, and printed materials.

What's included

Good for: websites, social media, printed materials, staff profiles, product shots, event coverage

Video production

Short-form video content for your website and social channels. Brand films, promotional clips, product demos, behind-the-scenes footage, and social media video – shot, edited, and delivered ready to use. Includes audio capture where needed.

What's included

Good for: brand films, website hero videos, social reels, product showcases, client testimonials

Business and team shots

Staff profiles, team photos, and images that show the people behind the business - the content most websites are missing

Work in progress

Documenting what you do while you're doing it - for trades, creatives, hospitality, events, and anywhere process matters

Products and services

Clean, well-lit product photography and demonstration video for websites, e-commerce listings, and sales materials

Premesis and location

Showing where you work, how the space looks, and what visiting you actually feels like - for hospitality, retail, and venue businesses especially

Events and occasions

Conferences, open days, launches, weddings, seasonal events - documented properly so you have content to use long after the day is over

Social media content batches

A regular shoot producing a month's worth of social content in one session - efficient, consistent, and specifically made for your platforms

IS THIS FOR YOU?

If any of this sounds like your situation, a shoot is probably overdue

The same few problems come up again and again. Most of them have a straightforward fix.

Your website photos are years old - or stock

The team photos on your About page are from 2019. Half the people in them don’t work there anymore. Or you’ve got stock images of people who look nothing like anyone in your business. Both are worse than you think – visitors notice, and it makes your site feel generic. Real photos of real people doing real work convert better than any stock library image.

Your social media looks worse than your business deserves

You do good work. The photos don’t show it. Blurry phone shots, bad lighting, inconsistent quality – your social feed doesn’t give people an accurate impression of what they’d actually get if they hired you. A proper content shoot closes that gap, and the difference in engagement is usually immediate.

You've got something worth documenting

A new premises, a new product, a major project, a rebrand, an event. Something is happening that’s worth capturing properly – not because you have to, but because in two years you’ll wish you had. Professional documentation of the things your business does and builds is an asset that compounds over time.

You need social content on an ongoing basis

Regular content shoots are one of the most efficient ways to keep social media active and consistent. Rather than scrambling for something to post every week, a half-day shoot every month produces enough varied, quality content to keep your channels looking professional without the daily effort.

You don’t need a shot list or a detailed brief to get started. Tell me what the content is for and what you want it to achieve, and I’ll take it from there.

"Everybody seems to think they know best how to improve your business through social media. We were lucky to find Tom Thomas Web & Media because Tom actually does know what he is doing. Tom has a great way with words and has insight as to how our business works. He has also been patient and helpful in explaining what he is doing to somebody who has no knowledge of how social media works.

THE KIT

Compact, professional-grade kit that works around your day

I shoot with a focused kit of compact, professional cameras rather than a full broadcast setup. For most small business content, that’s the right call – faster to set up, less disruptive to a working environment, and better suited to documentary-style shooting where you want things to look natural rather than staged.

Sony RX100 VII

Versatile, high-quality compact camera. Exceptional in mixed lighting and fast-moving situations - the main stills camera for most shoots.

DJI Osmo Pocket 3

3-axis gimbal-stabilised camera producing smooth, cinematic footage. Ideal for walkthroughs, behind-the-scenes, and social video content.

Insta360 Ace Pro 2

Wide-angle and action footage - good for larger spaces, events, and situations where capturing the full environment matters.

DJI Mic 3 & Mic Mini 2

Wireless lapel and shotgun microphone system for clean audio capture in interviews, on-camera pieces, and location sound.

HOW IT WORKS

What a shoot looks like from booking to delivery

Most shoots are booked and completed within two to three weeks. Here’s how the time breaks down.

1

Brief and planning

Before the shoot, I’ll ask what the content is for, where it’ll be used, and what the brief is. From there I put together a shot list covering the key things we need to capture – so the shoot has a clear direction and we don’t spend time on the day figuring it out.

2

The shoot

I come to you – your premises, your site, wherever the work happens. Most half-day shoots run three to four hours. I work around your day rather than stopping it, and I’ll direct things where needed without it feeling overly staged or formal.

3

Editing and post-production

Photos are selected, edited, and colour-graded. Video is cut, timed, and finished with music, titles, and any graphics. You don’t see the raw files – you see a finished, polished set of deliverables that are ready to use.

4

Delivery

Photos are delivered via a download gallery in high-resolution and web-optimised versions. Video files are delivered in formats suited to your intended platforms – widescreen for websites, vertical cuts for social where needed. Most projects are delivered within five to seven working days.

WHY WORK WITH ME

I shoot with the end use in mind, not just the shot in front of me

A lot of photographers produce great images that don’t quite work for what the client actually needed. Wrong format for the website, wrong crop for social, too formal for the tone they were going for. The content looks good but doesn’t do its job.

Because I also do website design, social media management, and marketing strategy, I understand how content gets used downstream. The shot list is built around specific placements, not just nice-to-have images. The edit is done with your platforms in mind. The brief is shaped by what the business actually needs, not just what looks good.

Content shot for its purpose, not just the portfolio

Every shoot is briefed around where the content goes and what it needs to do - website hero, social grid, printed materials, video thumbnail.

Photo and video from one person, in one visit

No waiting on you to send photos, approve everything, or chase approvals. The work gets done and it goes out on time.

Compact kit that works around a working business

No enormous crew, no shutting down the premises, no two hours of lighting setup before anyone can start. The shoot fits around you, not the other way round.

Can feed directly into other services

If I'm also managing your social media or building your website, the content goes straight from the shoot into the places it's needed - no handoff, no briefing another person, no delay.

QUESTIONS

FAQs about photography and video

If the answer you need isn’t here, just get in touch.

I come to you – that’s the whole point. Most business content works best when it’s shot in the actual environment where the work happens. I’m based in Congleton and regularly work across Cheshire and the North West. For shoots further afield, travel costs are discussed upfront and agreed before anything is booked.

It depends on the shoot. A half-day shoot typically produces 40 to 80 edited photos, depending on how varied the brief is. A full day will produce more. I don’t artificially limit the number of deliverables – you get everything that’s worth having from the session, properly edited. What I don’t do is hand over 300 raw files and leave you to sort through them.

Most video projects are delivered within five to ten working days of the shoot, depending on length and complexity. A short social media reel is quicker than a three-minute brand film. I’ll give you a realistic delivery timeline when we discuss the brief, and I don’t hold things up unnecessarily. If you need something by a specific date, tell me when we’re planning the shoot and I’ll work backwards from there.

Yes. All content is delivered with full commercial usage rights for your business. You can use it on your website, social media, printed materials, advertising, presentations – wherever you need it. The only thing I’d ask is that you don’t resell the images to third parties or use them in contexts that misrepresent your business. That’s it.

Yes – the monthly content retainer is designed for exactly that. A regular half-day shoot each month keeps your social media supplied with fresh, consistent content without the effort of booking each time. It also works well alongside social media management, where I’m both producing the content and running the channels.

Not much. I’ll send a brief before the shoot covering what we’re capturing and any practical things to have ready – tidy backgrounds, relevant products on hand, team members available if we’re doing portraits. Beyond that, the main thing is just making sure the day is relatively uninterrupted. We’ll go through everything beforehand so there are no surprises on the day.
